Cartwright Road Emergency Stormwater Upgrade

Client Auckland Council
Project Value $2 Million
Description A collapsed pipeline and torrential downpours caused extensive flooding in a commercial/residential area in West Auckland. March Cato mobilised emergency resources to sheet pile and excavate an open channel to alleviate the flooding. A 2.5 x 2m box culvert was later installed as part of this contract.
Relevant features

This project was negotiated with Auckland Council and funded under their Emergency Works budget.

March Cato mobilised plant and labour within two days of the event including 100 tonnes of sheet piles.

The work was carried during the winter months with high stormwater flows creating challenges that were overcome. As the site was within a commercial area, it necessitated considerable stakeholder management.

Continuous vibration monitoring was carried out to ensure that no damage from sheet piling and heavy plant was caused to the adjoining buildings.
