March Cato were engaged as the Principal Contractor to install approximately 1.7km of new DN800 SD17 HDPE East Coast Bays Link Sewer, extending from Windsor Park in the North East of the project, to interface with the existing pipeline already installed under State Highway 1, adjacent to the existing Rosedale Waste Water Treatment Plan.

The project was predominantly installed by Open Trench Methodologies, however, it also included some trenchless pipe installation, including a c 90m pipe-jacked tunnel, where we used our AVN 1200 machine to install a concrete carrier pipe, within which, the DN800 pipe was slip lined. The tunnel helped us navigate a section of private property, minimising disturbance to the property owners and residents.

Other trenchless sections included a 350m section of the alignment, which was installed under the existing Rosedale WWTP Ponds. This section was completed by Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD). A second, 133m HDD shot, was also completed under the existing stream in the Windsor Park Reserve.

The remaining alignment of approximately 1.2km was completed by Open Trench methodologies, navigating numerous underground and overhead services and utilities as well as managing access, egress and minimising disruption to numerous commercial and residential stakeholders including the businesses located along Apollo Drive and the residents of Centorian Drive and Scoripo Place.
