Hunua 4 Watermain

Hunua 4 Watermain

Designed to increase the security of the potable water supply for Auckland and cater for the expected increase in demand over the next 50 years, the $181M Hunua 4 Watermain involved the installation of 28km of large diameter pipe from the Redoubt Road reservoir to Campbell Crescent in Epsom.

March Cato was the key subcontractor responsible for the open cut installation of 16km of 12m lengths of 2000mm diameter and 12km of 1600mm diameter concrete lined steel pipe (CLS), ranging in depth from 4m to 6.5m. The majority of the pipeline was installed in the road carriageway, in built up urban residential and commercial / business areas; within railway corridors, rural areas and in private, public and reserve land.
