Milldale Wastewater Tunnel

The wastewater tunnel is part of the main trunk sewer from the new Milldale development.  located north of Auckland in Wainui. March Cato, working on behalf of Fulton Hogan, completed a total of 6no. trenchless tunnel drives, with the longest drive up to 228m long. March Cato utilised our own tunnelling plant and skilled staff to complete each of the drives. In total, 1.1km of 1050mm concrete jacking pipes were safely installed by the team, as well as the construction of a single 6m long hand tunnel, to allow us to carefully connect the new pipeline to the existing transmission manhole. The project required a number of carefully planned and coordinated drives which extended under critical infrastructure or sensitive natural assets, such as State Highway 1 and the Orewa River.
