Waikato 50

Waikato 50

The Waikato 50 project being delivered by Fletcher, on behalf of Watercare, is part of Watercare’s drought response projects. March Cato were engaged by Fletcher to fabricate and install the critical cross connection pipework to enable the flows from the new treatment plant, to enter into the existing Waikato No.1 transmission pipeline. Working on an accelerated programme, our team worked closely with both Watercare and Fletcher to plan, and deliver these complex works on an exceptionally busy, time constrained project.

In conjunction with our specialist welding partners, Olen Welding, we completed the offsite fabrication and testing of the new spool piece, whilst our onsite team carefully excavated and shored around the existing Waikato No.1 Pipeline. Over the Christmas holidays 2020 – 2021, our team successfully completed the cut-in and installation of the new 16.5T, 1254mm diameter, Tee Pipe spool.

Following the completion of this package of work, March Cato were also engaged to complete the installation of a bank of pipelines to connect the Treated Water Facility to the main Water Treatment Plant as well as a section of 1254mm pipeline as part of a potential new connection to this pump station.
