Wastewater TARP
The Wastewater Targeted Asset Renewal Programme (TARP) is a structured 5-year programme of work to upgrade and rehabilitate Auckland’s wastewater network in a targeted manner. March Cato, working as part of a team, in an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) model with Watercare and their design partners GHD, to design, consent, rehabilitate and commission Auckland’s Biofilters, Rising Mains, Trunk Sewers and Wastewater Pump Stations.
Biofilters
The Wastewater TARP to date has rehabilitated numerous odour control biofilters to significantly extend their useful serviceable life. We have developed and deployed our activated carbon odour scrubbers as well as developed some innovative methods to ensure efficient removal and replacement of the bark media.
Trunk Sewers
For the Trunk Sewer relining works, we often need to work in peoples back yards and driveways, requiring careful communication and planning to minimise frustration and disruption. We have engaged some specialist suppliers to provide low disruption, long life solutions for Watercare to prolong the life of these critical assets,
Rising Mains
We have purchased, specifically for TARP, a guided auger boring machine, which is perfect for the construction of sub 1% grade rising mains and gravity stormwater and wastewater pipelines. The machine allows us to install a variety of pipe types and diameters with pin point accuracy in both alignment and grade. The newly constructed rising mains enable the existing, life expired, assets to be taken off-line, increasing the resilience of the local network.
Pump Stations
March Cato will be refurbishing some of Auckland’s most critical wastewater pumpstations as part of the TARP, which involves the replacement of the existing pumps, switchboard, pipework, valves and fittings. Working closely with Watercare and our electrical specialists, we have designed and fabricated a temporary switchboard and some innovative methodologies to enable the upgrade works to be completed all whilst the pump station continues to operate.
